The City of Bolivar Fire Department was established in 1825. Through the department’s commitment to excellence, the City of Bolivar currently boasts a Personal Property Classification of 4/4X as audited and assigned by the Insurance Services Office (ISO).
The Bolivar Fire Department is the only combination department in Hardeman County. The department operates 24/7/365. The department employs 12 full-time staff and has 19 volunteer firefighters. Each firefighter is trained and certified through the Tennessee Fire & Codes Academy (TFACA).

The Bolivar Fire Department operates out of one station located at 210 West Jackson Street in Bolivar. They protect approximately 14,000 citizens within a fire response district of 108 square miles. The department provides fire suppression protection, wildland response, rescue & extrication, an aggressive public education program, commercial and industrial incident pre-planning services & courtesy inspections, and smoke detector installation.
The department’s apparatus inventory includes the following:
Ladder 1: 2007 Ferrara Intruder II, 77’ Aerial Apparatus, 1500 GPM, 300 gallon tank

SMOKE ALARMS
The Bolivar Fire Rescue Department partners with the Tennessee State Fire Marshal's Office to administer the "Get Alarmed" program in its jurisdiction. The department installs smoke alarms within the geographical city limits of Bolivar upon request. Click on the link below to request your FREE smoke alarm today.
