October’s neighbor is Mr. Charles “Butch” Gatlin. Mr. Gatlin is a lifelong resident of Bolivar, and he is enthusiastically proud of it! Mr. Gatlin has been married to his wife, Carrie, for 45 years. They have two children and four grandchildren. He has no plans of living anywhere else because one of his greatest desires is to give back to the community that has given so much to him, and he practices what he preaches.
Mr. Gatlin currently serves as the Youth Services Officer for Hardeman County and has dedicated 14 years of his life to serving the children and youth of Hardeman County. His motto is “saving one child at a time.” He believes in mentoring the youth in our community and is proud to do so. Prior to his work with the county’s youth, he worked at and retired from Proctor and Gamble. If that was not enough, he serves his church family at Greater Springfield as a deacon and previously served as a city councilman for the City of Bolivar. A neighbor who is called to service in his community is quite a fitting testament for Bolivar as we enter into the Thanksgiving season!
If you see Butch out and about, be sure to say HELLO and thank him for his service to our youth! If you see Mayor McTizic and I out and about, you may be our next featured neighbor!
